Pedal Car Grand Prix could become an annual event in Ringwood
The British Pedal Car Grand Prix, which took place in Ringwood on 10 July, was a punishing race in the blazing heat.
Teams were given two hours to complete as many laps as possible and the competitors pedalled like crazy.
Previous winner Apollo Racing took the 2022 chequered flag with 103 laps, 2nd was Dredful Racing with 99 laps and the all girl team Squeals on Wheels came 3rd having completed 97 laps.
The wooden spoon (if there was on) would have gone to Team New Milton Round Table with the magnificent total of six laps. They valiantly carried on after losing a wheel and they weren’t the only team who ended up with three wheels on their ‘wagon’.
The race director was James Marley and the commentator was Candice Lingam Willgoss. After the race, Ringwood’s mayor, Councillor Gareth DeBoos, who made the presentations with his wife Mary, told Dorset View/ Viewpoint Magazine: “What a fantastic event this has been. May it become an annual event. I would like to say a big thank you to James Marley and the Round Table.”
The British Pedal Car Grand Prix attracts teams from all over the country and is normally held every other year in Ringwood, but it sounds possible that it may become an annual event in the town.
