Ride a bike anytime, anywhere between 1-30 September for your chance to win prizes and help your team conquer the leaderboard as ‘Love to Ride Momentum’ the National Cycle Challenge gets underway.
It’s a fun, free cycling competition between workplaces to see which can get the highest percentage of employees to ride a bike for 10 minutes or more.
Organisations are split into size categories and earn points for new riders joining, the numbers of rides logged, and the number of miles cycled.
A local leader-board covering Bournemouth, Poole and Dorset is available so organisations and departments can track their progress against others in their size category.
Brought to you by the Business Travel Network, the cycle challenge aims to encourage everyone, regardless of experience or fitness to discover the benefits of cycling, whether it’s for fun, exercise, or to work.
There are lots of local prizes in Dorset for teams and individuals including a Brompton Bike from Pedals Cycle Centre, a crate of Jimmy’s Iced Coffee, bike security kits from Bike Register, two Fit Bits, a Playtpus Tokul XC 8 Hydration Pack, and much more.
There’s even a chance of winning some National prizes including, the latest e-bikes from Raleigh; a bike from the 2017 road bike range from Genesis; bike tool kits from ParkTools; the latest technical cycling gear from Proviz; a cycling holiday for 2 from Bikecation; and a bunch of amazing group and family UK adventure vouchers, plus more.
It’s really easy to participate:
- Register on the website www.lovetoride.net/momentum
- Ride a bike for at least 10 minutes during September
- Log your ride on the website
- Share your love of riding and encourage others to join in
- Get entered into the draw for prizes
Cllr Peter Finney, cabinet member for environment, infrastructure and highways at Dorset County Council, said: “Whether you’re cycling to and from work, socially with friends or at the weekend for leisure, encourage others to join you, and remember to log your journey online to be in with a chance to win a prize.
“It’s not about who can cycle the most miles, but about taking part and discover the benefits of cycling. A bike is a very efficient means of transportation, not only will it save you travelling costs, but it will also make you healthier and happier.
“Plus you can use the website between challenges to log rides, set goals and smash them!
“So whether you ride a bike every day or haven’t ridden a bike in over a year, get signed up and get cycling. And don’t forget to encourage others to join in too.”
