Detectives are renewing their appeal for witnesses and anyone with information to come forward after a conman tricked a pensioner out of money in Christchurch.
The incident occurred at an address in the Purewell area at around 10.30am on Tuesday 9 July 2013.
The victim – aged in his nineties – returned home riding a mobility scooter to find the offender, who claimed to be a builder, waiting for him. He was told that guttering work had been undertaken on his property and he paid him cash. The victim later discovered that the work had not been completed.
Detective Constable Emma Smith, of Dorset Police’s CID, said: “Following further enquiries, I believe that there were two further witnesses in the area, a man and a woman who walked past and looked at the offender and the victim. The woman was wearing a light coloured sleeveless top and light trousers and the man was wearing a dark coloured top and light trousers.
He added “I would urge these two witnesses to come forward as they may be able to assist with my investigation”.
