A West Moors pensioner in her 70s became trapped when a burglar pushed her wheelchair over and she fell out.
A man got into her home on Heathfield Way between 6pm and 9.40pm on Friday 20 December and attacked her.
He pushed her over when she confronted him and left her on the floor and she was eventually discovered by a member of her family. She sustained a head injury which required hospital treatment.
The burglar carried out a search of the property and stole a large quantity of cash.
Detective Constable Andrew Burley, of Bournemouth CID said: “This is a despicable crime on a vulnerable elderly woman. The offender is described as dressed in dark clothing and is believed to have been wearing a balaclava with a white scarf or T-shirt covering his lower face.
“I urgently appeal for anyone who saw this man or recalls any suspicious activity in the area at the time to come forward as soon as possible.
“Anyone with information is asked to call the police on 101 in the strictest confidence.”
No arrests have been made.
