Officers from the Christchurch and East Dorset Partnership are mounting a campaign at favourite dog-walking spots in Christchurch and East Dorset to encourage people to ‘pick up’ after their dogs.
Although most dog walkers understand the need for picking up when their dogs have done their business, there are still areas where the amount of dog fouling is unacceptably high. The officers hope that, by handing out literature and free dog poop bags and talking to dog walkers, the message will get home to those people who don’t follow the rule to ‘bag it and bin it’.
The areas being targeted are locations which regularly generate complaints from considerate dog walkers and other users.
Officers will be at Purewell Meadows, Stanpit Recreation Ground and Steamer Point nature reserve in Christchurch and Springdale View Point, Corfe Mullen, Redcotts Recreation Ground, Wimborne, Bytheway Field, Colehill, Potterne Park, Verwood and Corfe Mullen Recreation Ground in East Dorset, as well as other ‘hot spots’, at various times of day between 20 and 26 May.
