Christchurch Borough Council has submitted a planning application for improvement works at Avon Beach and residents are invited to comment on proposals via the website.
Christchurch Borough Council has submitted a planning application for improvement works at Avon Beach. The planning application is to raise the low-lying section of promenade along the beach front to make it level with the higher promenade on either side. The proposal also includes widening the promenade which will improve access for beach users.
Lindsay Cass, head of Property and Engineering, Christchurch and East Dorset Councils, commented, “If approved, this scheme will provide better protection of our coastline against predicted future sea level rises and improve the appearance of Avon Beach promenade. Through our work with the Dorset Coast Forum, residents have helped shape the design of the proposal and we are pleased with how engaged people have been.”
You can view and comment on the plans by visiting our planning application portal at www.dorsetforyou.gov.uk/planning/christchurch and entering the planning application number – 8/17/1748/FUL.
The closing date for feedback is 11 August 2017.
