Keen gardeners looking to buy top quality plants will find five local expert growers displaying rare and unusual ferns, grasses, blueberries, azaleas, camellias, rhododendrons and shrubs all in one place on Saturday 25 April.
The East Dorset Specialist Plant Fair takes place at Wimborne-based ornamental grass specialist Knoll Gardens and offers an ideal opportunity to stock up on quality locally-grown plants from some of the UK’s best nurseries. Visitors will find stunning heathers from Forest Edge Nurseries, a selection of ferns and unusual shrubs from trade-supplier Country Gardens Plant Sales, delicious blueberries and beautiful camellias from Trehane and the latest varieties of azaleas and rhododendrons from the Koirin Azalea Centre.
Plant fair host, Neil Lucas, said, “We have some fantastic specialist growers in the area and this is an ideal opportunity for local gardeners to find them all in one place. And in the case of one nursery in particular – Country Gardens Plant Sales – it is a rare chance to buy direct from a trade-only wholesaler.”
Some of the more unusual plants available include tree heathers that can reach up to two metres in height and a rhododendron with 35cm long leaves.
The specialist plant fair runs from 10am to 4pm at Knoll Gardens, Stapehill Road, Hampreston near Wimborne. Admission to the fair is free although there is a charge for those who also wish to visit Knoll’s four-acre show garden.
