Plaque exchange in Wimborne Minster
After giving 280 Signal Squadron the Freedom of the Town, Wimborne Minster has exchanged plaques with the military unit.

Following the bestowing of the Freedom on the Town on 280 Signal Squadron on 22 March, the Mayor of Wimborne Minster, Cllr Jeff Hart, has formally exchanged commemorative plaques with Major Will Higgins, officer commanding, in a presentation held at the Town Hall Chamber.
The Freedom honour recognises the Squadron’s exemplary service and longstanding connection with the local community.
Cllr Hart presented the Squadron with a specially designed town plaque, while Major Higgins offered a regimental plaque in return.
Cllr Hart said: “It was an honour to once again welcome Major Higgins to Wimborne Minster. The exchange of plaques is a lasting symbol of the strong relationship between the town and 280 Signal Squadron.
“We are proud to recognise their service and celebrate their ongoing ties to our community.”
Major Will Higgins said: “Receiving the Freedom of Wimborne Minster is a great privilege for all of us at 280 Signal Squadron. We value the support and friendship of the town and look forward to continuing this important relationship.”
The Freedom of the Town entitles 280 (NATO) Signal Squadron to march through Wimborne Minster with ‘bayonets fixed, colours flying, and drums beating’ — a ceremonial right steeped in tradition and respect.
