Poetry lovers are in for a treat at the Wimborne Folk Festival on Saturday 13 June.
Dorset Library Service has teamed up with two talented young poets, Joe Selby and Mel Oliver, who will be performing in the courtyard outside the library at 11.30am with a repeat performance at 1pm.
Joe is a 21-year-old spoken word artist living Bournemouth who questions the idea of poetry as an archaic art. With his lively emphasis on rhythm and delivery and roots in hip hop – be prepared to dispel your preconceptions around poetry.
Mel was crowned Poet Laureate at the Frome Festival in 2013. A member of Freeway Poets, she has been described as ‘A free spirit and shining light to all – a poet, artist and all round creative,’ and her love of life comes through in her words.
It’s free to attend and is suitable for adults and older children.
