Poole Council to submit plans to improve Whitecliff Pavilion
Whitecliff Pavilion in Parkstone, Poole could become a modern sports and community hub under proposals being developed by Borough of Poole.
Poole Borough Council is submitting an outline planning application to improve and modernise Whitecliff Pavilion, the community facility at Whitecliff Recreation Ground in Parkstone.
The proposed development would feature better changing facilities for local sports clubs, a new park café and would also retain free access to public toilets.
It would also provide a multi-functional area for park users and community groups aimed at promoting healthy lifestyles.
The council will seek a commercial partner to take the proposal forward later this year.
Councillor John Rampton, cabinet portfolio holder for environmental service said, “The development of the pavilion is a fantastic opportunity to expand the services that Whitecliff currently has to offer to the residents of Poole. With improved facilities for the sports teams, as well as accessible and functional community spaces, we can ensure that Whitecliff remains a wonderful space for everyone.”
The outline planning application follows consultation with the local community and businesses. Detailed designs for the pavilion will be developed with the commercial partner and local users of the facility.
Work to improve Whitecliff Pavilion could start in 2018.
