Poole credit card thief tots up £800 bill in one transaction
Police have released a CCTV image of a man they would like to speak with after a credit card was stolen from a man while he was in a gym and used to buy £800 worth of gift cards.
The victim was using the gym at the DW Fitness Club at Redlands in Poole on 17 November 2016 from around 6.30pm to 8.30pm and had left his wallet in a locker. He didn’t notice his card was missing until the following day and was notified by his bank that it had been used in suspicious circumstances.
The card was used at Mothercare in Poole to purchase £800 worth of gift cards at 10am on Friday 18 November 2016. The person using it reportedly pulled the card out of the card reader to make the assistant think it was not working and signed for the transaction instead.
Police Constable John Upsher, of Poole police, said: “Following our investigations, we are now in a position to release a CCTV image of the man apparently using the card at the Mothercare store in Poole.
“I would appeal to anyone who recognises this man or who has any further information to please contact me.”
