Poole robber to spend 10 years in jail

Ben Murray’s offences included stealing a car, breaking into a home in Weymouth, threatening a person with a knife and stealing a bag.

A Poole man has been sent to prison for 10 years after being found guilty of three offences, one of which involved a knife.

Ben Murray, 34, was sentenced at Bournemouth Crown Court on Tuesday 3 March 2026 for two counts of robbery and one count of theft of a motor vehicle.

On Thursday 16 October 2025, Murray stole a Mazda car from outside an address in Ashley Road in Poole.

A few days later, in the early hours of Saturday 18 October 2025, he used the car to commit a robbery at an address in Park Street in Weymouth. He entered the building and threatened the occupant with a knife before stealing jewellery and aftershave and leaving the scene.

On the evening of Sunday 26 October 2025, Murray approached and threatened a man in Holdenhurst Road in Bournemouth. He stole the victim’s bag and then ran away.

Investigations were launched into all three incidents and officers were able to identify Murray as the man responsible.

He was arrested and charged, subsequently pleading guilty to the charges against him.

Detective Constable Liam Moss, of Dorset Police, said: “Over a 10-day period, Murray stole a car and carried out two separate robberies. This must have been truly terrifying for the victims.

“Our enquiries into the incidents, which included scene examinations, CCTV trawls and taking witness statements, led us to Murray and I am pleased we have been able to bring him before the courts to face justice for his offending.”
