Robert Walter MP (North Dorset) officially cut the ribbon on the newly refurbished post offices at The Tabernacle, Blandford Forum and Coppice Street, Shaftesbury on 4 November.
Blandford and Shaftesbury post offices have recently changed to Post Office Limited’s new style main post office branches and received investment to refurbish them and provide new counters. Better still, both will now be open on Saturday afternoons, which is good news for local residents.
The change is part of a three-year investment and support programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office, which will see around 6,000 branches converting to new style branches, with the aim of creating a more modern and convenient retail experience for customers that includes longer opening hours.
Bob commented, “I was delighted to be asked to officially open two newly refurbished post offices in my constituency, which are already up and running. Our post offices provide a vital service to local residents of all ages and I am pleased to see this investment coming to North Dorset.
“Saturday afternoon opening will, in particular, offer greater convenience and more choice of when to visit the post office, which I know my constituents in and around Blandford and Shaftesbury will welcome.”
