Andrea Spyropoulos, President of the Royal College of Nursing, recently visited the Royal Bournemouth Hospital and praised the quality of care given to patients.
Andrea visited a variety of wards and departments including cardiology and the Stroke Unit and said: “It has been a great privilege to visit the Royal Bournemouth Hospital and see the good work carried out by staff within numerous clinical areas. Quality of care is paramount and it is clear to see the absolute dedication put in by staff for patients.”
Andrea also attended the Trust’s Staff Excellence Awards to present the Award for Quality. It was awarded to the Treatment and Investigation Unit (TIU) for improving the quality of services and care provided for patients. The TIU is the first nurse-led unit within the hospital and opened in December 2012. The unit sees a range of patients that previously were cared for in different areas across the hospital.
Paula Shobbrook, Director of Nursing and Midwifery, said: “It was a great pleasure to welcome Andrea and introduce her to staff throughout the organisation. Our focus is delivering high quality care for patients and I am pleased that this was evident to Andrea as she visited various clinical areas.”
