Prolific burglar stole from Bournemouth home while occupants watched television
A prolific burglar who broke into a Bournemouth home while the occupants watched television has been jailed for four years.
Paul Jackson, 52, of no fixed abode, pleaded guilty to two charges of burglary and asked for a further 45 burglaries to be taken into consideration when he was sentenced at Bournemouth Crown Court on 10 March.
The court heard that on the evening of 5 February, Jackson gained entry to a flat in Manor Road through an open bedroom window and stole a handbag, wallet and credit cards. He later told officers that he could see a couple through the window watching television when he burgled the property.
The defendant was arrested in Hampshire on 7 February in the village of Sway following reports that a man had forced entry to a property. He was found in possession of a pillow case containing jewellery, coins and a jewellery box as well as a screwdriver and gloves.
When questioned by police about the burglaries, Jackson told officers, “Yeah it was me I admit doing it.”
As well as admitting the Manor Road offence when he was arrested, Jackson also asked for a number of other offences to be taken into consideration, including offences in the Dean Park and Westbourne areas of Bournemouth.
Jackson was sentenced to four years for each of the burglary offences, with the sentences to run concurrently.
