A new draft planning document aimed at maintaining the local character and distinctiveness of Sandleheath parish, near Fordingbridge, is on view for public consultation until 14 August 2014.
The Sandleheath Village Design Statement will help those considering new development within Sandleheath parish to design their schemes in a way that contributes positively to the local character of the village.
The production of the document has been led by Sandleheath Parish Council working with the district council to ensure that it conforms to the New Forest Local Plan. The Village Design Statement describes the character of the village in terms of landscape, history and physical attributes, and provides design guidance for householders, landowners, businesses and developers.
Cllr Paul Vickers, New Forest District Council’s portfolio holder for planning and transportation, said: “It is important that the local community are involved in influencing the future development of the area they live in, so I would encourage people to view the Sandleheath Village Design Statement and have their say.”
Cllr David Wright, Chairman of Sandleheath Parish Council added: “We have worked hard to reflect the wishes of residents in the draft plan and I encourage everyone to read it to ensure that it is what they want.”
The draft document can be viewed online at newforest.gov.uk/haveyoursay. It is also available to view at New Forest District Council’s Appletree Court offices in Lyndhurst and Sandleheath Post Office (during normal office hours).
All comments should be sent to the Policy and Plans Team, New Forest District Council, Appletree Court, Beaulieu Road, Lyndhurst, SO43 7PA or e-mailed to policyandplans@nfdc.gov.uk, to be received no later than Friday 15 August 2014 (please include full name and address, and give details of which parts of the document the comments relate to).
Comments made during the consultation will be taken into account when finalising the document. The final version will be considered by the district council for adoption as a Supplementary Planning Document.
