Rail disruption this Friday and Saturday
Due to strikes by members of the ASLEF union, there will be severe disruption to train services later this week.
Strike action on Friday 1 September will severely affected rail travel.
The action, which will be taken by members of the ASLEF union, will mean that South Western Railway services from London will not run beyond Basingstoke and the majority of the network will be closed. There will be no services to Southampton, Salisbury or Weymouth, or on the Island Line.
Services still running will be extremely limited and will operate only between 7am and 7pm.
On Saturday 2 September, a strike by the RMT union will take place. Again, services will be affected – while there will be services between London Waterloo and Southampton Central, they will be significantly reduced service and trains will again only run between 0700 and 1900.
Customers are advised to only travel if absolutely necessary on both days, and to check their entire journey before setting out.
