Rain didn’t stop Wimborne Pancake Race
Report and photos by Marilyn Barber
It might have been raining, but for the third time in its 24-year history, Wimborne’s Pancake Race was run inside the Minster church.
And it was very well supported with children from Dumpton, Allenbourn and Wimborne First Schools competing, along with adults including the rector The Rev Canon Andrew Rowland, the curate The Rev Nick Wells and a team from MJP Law.
However, for the fifth year, the winner of the adults’ race was Scott Taylor, who said he was racing this year for the first time as a grandfather. He received a prize from Viewpoint and Dorset View, which was presented by the magazines’ news editor Marilyn Barber, in addition to The John Loader Memorial Cup.
The event was organised by Anthony Oliver, Steve Burrows, John Bunting and Martyn Curtler.
Other winners
Tots race – Charlie Craythorne, aged three-and-a-half
Schools – Ren Turner (Wimborne First); Luca Dampney (Dumpton) and Kianah Hickson (Allenbourn)
Wheelchair race – Julie-Anne Rickets who was pushing Trevor
A collection for Minster funds raised £67.62.
