An intruguing steam model of an engineer’s workshop is to be sold by Lawrences Auctioneers of Crewkerne.
Consigned for sale by a Somerset client, this model of a workshop was made by famous toy makers Ernst Plank. Plank was a builder of steam locomotives, stationary models and magic lanterns. He began producing models in the 19th Century.
The construction is powered by a burner which operates a range of machinery including a model lathe, grinding stone and circular saw. It is in wholly untouched condition and it also comes with its original box.
Lawrences Auctioneer Simon Jones said, “Toys of this rarity are always keenly collected, with a huge number of collectors for steam related models. We will expect a lot of interest when this appears in auction.”
The workshop will be included in Lawrences Collectors and Militaria sale on Friday 22 of May. It is estimated at £300-500 in the auction.
