Royal Bournemouth Hospital consultant is one of 18 to join national Health Foundation quality improvement initiative Dr Sean Weaver, a consultant specialising in gastroenterology at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital, is one of 18 health professionals in the UK to have been selected for a national leadership programme.
‘GenerationQ’ is being run by independent health care charity ‘The Health Foundation’ and aims to drive improvements across UK health care services and organisations.
The 18 month part time programme will see the selected health professionals complete a postgraduate certificate in quality improvement leadership, helping them to develop the skills required to confront the challenges faced by health care leaders today.
Dr Weaver is the Associate Medical Director of The Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (RBCH) and is a leading expert in Inflammatory Bowel Disease. He said: “I am delighted to have been successful in being selected for this programme. It is a fabulous opportunity to develop techniques to improve patient care about which I am passionate”
Dr Jennifer Dixon, Chief Executive of the Health Foundation said “We have found 18 gifted people to participate in the fellowship, and are very excited to see what they will achieve. GenerationQ equips those wanting to improve frontline care with a wide range of tools for quality improvement. These skills are needed now more than ever because of the challenge on tax funded health care to transform at pace over the next few years.”
