Following the fundraising success of The Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal, customers can make their poppies go further this year at their local Sainsbury’s. For the first time, the Ferndown are providing a recycling service to support The Royal British Legion, the UK’s leading Armed Forces charity.
Sainsbury’s Store Manager Matt Hunter said: “The Poppy Appeal was a great success this year for fundraising and we’d like to thank everyone who contributed. With this recycling initiative, we wanted to show our customers that they can make their poppy go further and enable the Legion to save. We hope the recycling drive proves a success with our Ferndown customers”.
Catherine Gowers, Corporate Partnerships Manager at The Royal British Legion added: “We’re delighted that in addition to the amazing support we have received from Sainsbury’s for this year’s Poppy Appeal, Sainsbury’s are our corporate partner for this recycling initiative. It’s the first time our supporters can make their poppies go further. We will be using all of the recycled poppies we receive to make new ones or to raise funds from the recycled material, all of which will support next year’s Poppy Appeal.
During this year’s Poppy Appeal, there were many ways that customers could make a donation. These included collectors from The Royal British Legion in-store, who raised funds between 28th October and 11th November.
