Detectives are renewing their appeal for witnesses to come forward following an alleged fail-to-stop collision in Bournemouth – with two men being arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
At around 3.45pm on Sunday 22 November, emergency services were called to Tyrrell Gardens in the Townsend area following a report that a man had been struck by a vehicle which had failed to stop at the scene.
The victim, a 20-year-old man from Bournemouth, was taken to hospital for treatment to a serious head injury. He is said to be recovering from his serious injuries.
A short time later, officers were called to reports of a vehicle fire in Howard Road. A green Daewoo, believed to have been involved in the earlier incident, was destroyed in the fire.
Detective Constable Ian Allen, of Bournemouth CID, said: “We are continuing to investigate this incident and I am appealing to anyone with information to come forward.
“In particular, I am keen to identify a woman who was in the area of the fire at the time as we believe she may have information that will help with our enquiries.
“I am able to release a photo of this woman and I would ask her or anyone who recognises her, to get in contact with me urgently.
“All calls will be treated in the strictest of confidence.”
A 24-year-old Poole man and a 34-year-old Bournemouth man were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and released on bail, pending further enquiries, until the middle of January 2015.
