Renewed police appeal following serious collision in Bournemouth
A Bournemouth man is due in court in December to face charges of multiple driving offences, but more witnesses are needed.
Although a man was arrested and is due to appear at Bournemouth Crown Court next month, Dorset Police have renewed their appeal for more information following a collision with a pedestrian in Westbourne.
They received a report at 11.19am on Tuesday 8 November of a collision involving a white Nissan Micra and a pedestrian in Poole Road.
The pedestrian – a woman aged in her 50s – was taken to hospital for treatment. She remains in hospital in a serious condition.
A 47-year-old man from Bournemouth was arrested on suspicion of driving offences. He was subsequently charged with causing serious injury by dangerous driving, driving a vehicle while unfit through drugs, using a motor vehicle on a road without third party insurance and driving a motor vehicle otherwise than in accordance with a licence. He appeared at Poole Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 10 November and is next due to appear at Bournemouth Crown Court on Thursday 8 December.
Police sergeant Gareth Thomas, of the traffic unit, said: “Our investigation is continuing and I would urge anyone who saw what happened to please come forward.
“I am particularly keen to speak to the driver of a black hatchback car, possibly a Mercedes A Class that was driving toward Westbourne at around 11.15am on the day of the collision as they may have witnessed what happened. If you are the driver, please make contact with Dorset Police.”
