It’s back! Riverdance stormed back onto the stage at the BIC this week as if it was its debut performance.
This is the 20th anniversary tour but it is still as fresh and thrilling as when it won the public’s heart at the Eurovision Song Contest in Dublin in 1994.Featuring synchronized Irish step-dancing and powerful Celtic music, this is a family show like no other. It is far more than just a dance show – through song, music and dance it tells the story of Irish history, its culture and the immigration that took thousands to America.
And what a tale it is. Dynamic hypnotic choreography, haunting music and songs -you can’t help but get caught up in the excitement and clap along or tap your feet to the rhythm.
The live music by four gifted musicians, the Celtic songs which leave a tingle down your spine and the energetic inspiring dancing including a magnificent tap ‘dance off’ are as vibrant as day one.
It may have been going 20 years but this production is fresh, just as fantastic and has lost none of the magic that has turned it into a legend.
It’s on at the BIC until Sunday 21 September. Take the family and re-live the excitement.
