The Sporting Bears Motor Club is inviting the local community to visit the club’s stand, located near Boscombe Pier at this year’s Wheels Festival on 3-5 June, for a chance to ride in a luxury car to raise money for the Diverse Abilities’ Lilypad Appeal.
Throughout the festival the Sporting Bears Motor Club will be organising a 20-minute ride in a luxury car in exchange for a donation of £20-50, depending on the vehicle. All monies raised will be going to the Lilypad Appeal, which is to renovate the Dorset charity’s respite home, which is for children with complex disabilities and their families. The passenger making the donation will be driven in the car of their dreams by the private owner who will be donating their car and time for free.
One of the club’s members, James Woodward, nominated Diverse Abilities to be the chosen charity at this year’s Wheels Festival as his niece, Laura, attends the children’s respite home run by the charity.
Rachel Woodward Carrick, Laura’s mum, said, “The children’s respite home that Diverse Abilities runs is a home-from-home for Laura. The support she receives is fantastic and the staff are truly amazing. By coming along for a dream ride, you will be supporting the charity’s Lilypad Appeal and helping more children with disabilities and their families get the vital support they need.”
Helen Mortimer, fundraising manager at Diverse Abilities, said, “We are thrilled that the Sporting Bears Motor Club have chosen the Lilypad Appeal. We hope that many local people attending the festival pop to the stall at Boscombe Pier and take up the opportunity to have a ride in their dream car, while making a difference to children and families in Dorset.”
