Ringwood pupils to run Mini London Marathon
Pupils from Ringwood Junior School are set to take part in this year’s TCS Mini London Marathon on 25 April.
A total of 40 students from Ringwood Junior School are joining in the Mini London Marathon, where they will take on either a one-mile or 2.6km course, racing through the iconic surroundings of St James’s Park and finishing on The Mall outside Buckingham Palace.
This is the school’s third year participating, and this year pupils are running to raise funds to go towards building a new wellbeing facility at the school.
Headteacher Sally Evans said: “The Mini London Marathon gives our pupils a chance to challenge themselves, build confidence and feel part of something truly special.
“At the same time, they are helping improve facilities that will support the wellbeing of our children for many years to come. We are incredibly proud.”
A Year 6 pupil, Milo Guilon, said: “It will be amazing to have a bigger, warmer space with separate rooms.”
The project has already received a welcome boost from New Forest District Council, which awarded a £100,000 grant towards the school’s development plans. The school still needs to raise a further £15,000 to begin building work this year.
Supporters are encouraged to donate via the school’s fundraising link and wish the young runners the best of luck as they prepare for the big race in April.
