Ringwood School hosts triumphant photography competition
The Rotary Club of Ringwood Interschools Photographic Competition took place on 10 March.
Ringwood School presented certificates and prizes to the winners of a photography competition on 10 March.
This was the Rotary Club of Ringwood Interschools Photographic Competition’s 15th year of celebrating local photographers. This year saw over 600 entries from 23 schools across Dorset, Hampshire and Wiltshire; the theme for entries was ‘Perspective’.
The competition was judged by a team drawn from the Rotary Club of Ringwood, Ringwood School Art Department, The Royal Photographic Society Digital Imaging Group, Ringwood Camera Club and the Arts University Bournemouth.
A shortlist of 50 photos was selected within four categories: Primary, Years 7–10, Years 11–13 and Adult.
The winners in student categories were:
- Primary: Hope Wilkins, St Marks C of E Junior School
- Years 7–10: Jacob Kilburn, Ringwood School
- Years 11–13: Keela Billington, Ringwood School
A founding member of the competition team and major fundraiser, Rotarian Micheal Lingam-Willgoss, died in 2022. In his memory, the award for the overall best in show, the MLW Prize for the Young Photographer of the Year, was presented to Jacob Kilburn, a pupil at Ringwood School.
Adam Markham, Brockenhurst College (Year 11–13) won the Arts University Bournemouth Prize.
