Ringwood to host fireworks event
The town council is hosting its seventh annual Grand Fireworks Display on Carvers Recreation on 6 November.
The Ringwood sky will be a rainbow of colour on Sunday 6 November when the town council hosts its seventh annual Grand Fireworks Display on Carvers Recreation Ground. This year’s entertainment includes a fairground, children’s outdoor disco, two fireworks displays and live music from the hugely popular Swing Unlimited Big Band.
Advanced tickets are on sale at Ringwood Gateway and Carvers Clubhouse and are just £2. On the gate tickets are £4 and, as ever, pre-schoolers and people with disabilities and their carers are free.
Cllr Rae Frederick, chairman of the Events Committee for Ringwood Town Council and deputy mayor, said: “We are delighted that this event is returning. We work hard to keep our tickets prices as low as possible for the benefit of our local community and want to thank our major sponsor, Churchill Retirement Living for their support in helping us achieve this. We also want to say thank you to the many local charities which help us with events including the Rotary Club of Ringwood, Ringwood and District Roundtable, Men’s Shed and Ringwood Carnival. We couldn’t do it without you.”
Gates open at 3pm for the fairground, food and drink stalls. The children’s entertainment runs from 4pm and ends just before a ‘low bangs’ display at 5.30pm. Swing Unlimited Big Band will be on stage from 6pm performing their wide repertoire of 30s and 40s jazz right through to more modern pop songs for all age groups to enjoy. The bonfire will be lit around 6.15pm and the main display at 7pm.
This year, Ringwood and District Roundtable are organising a Guy Competition for local schools as well as being the official ‘bonfire-builders’. They are also running the charity bar, where they will be using reusable cups to reduce the number of single-use plastics used as part of a generous sponsorship from Comax UK.
If you fancy a night off cooking, there are plenty of options on site including a hog roast, bratwurst and pizza, as well as sweet treats. Carvers Clubhouse will be offering a special event menu.
