RNLI volunteers fundraise with Mayday Mile challenge
RNLI volunteers and supporters will be taking part in the Mayday Mile challenge over the bank holiday weekend.
Poole lifeboat volunteers are hoping that they have a busy weekend – not by being called out to sea, but by completing the challenge and raising money to support the RNLI’s services.
The Mayday Mile is a flexible challenge where participants can cover just one mile, over one day, or extend it to suit their fitness levels and availability. Participants can walk, run, cycle, row or even paddle board – any method is welcomed.
The Poole crew are aiming to cover 1,000 miles and raise a minimum of £1,000, in recognition of the number you call to access the coastguard – 999 – plus one, representing ‘one crew’ collectively fundraising.
They will be at Poole Quay on 2 May, alongside live music outside the Lord Nelson pub between 11am and 2.30pm, and in Falkland Square on 3 May from 10am until 5pm, again with live music and free giveaways.
