Work to resurface a section of Herbert Avenue in Poole is due to start on Tuesday 26 May 2015.
The work, between Arne Avenue and Alder Road, is scheduled to take place from 7am to 7.30pm daily until Friday 29 May. To help traffic flow, one lane will remain open to vehicles at all times.
In addition, a 24-hour road diversion will be in place while the work is carried out. Eastbound traffic will be diverted via the Mountbatten roundabout, Wallisdown Road and Alder Road.
The junctions of Arne Avenue, Newlyn Way and Northmere Road will be closed. In the interest of public safety, vehicles will not be able to turn right out of Rossmore Road into Herbert Avenue for the duration of the work.
Access to the leisure centre, day care and library on the St Aldhelms Academy site will be unaffected and local businesses will also be open as usual.
John Rice, Engineering Manager, Borough of Poole, said: “This section of road was already in a poor condition and has been further damaged by the recent severe weather causing more potholes to form. We resurfaced another section of Herbert Avenue between Ringwood Road and Arne Avenue last year and are now completing the resurfacing work.
“Herbert Avenue is a busy road but we’ve planned this work to take place during the school half term holidays, when there is generally less traffic. We have decided not to carry out night time working or 24-hour working at this time as this would cause unacceptable disturbance to local residents.
“We recognise that the work will cause some unavoidable disruption to road users and would ask motorists to allow extra time for their journeys. We would like to thank everyone for their patience.”
