Roadworks at Horton Inn Crossroads

Dorset County Council has already started preparation work, digging trenches for power lines to the signage that will be installed.

The work which will take three days to complete includes improvements to lining and signage with Vehicle Activated Signing and an anti-skid surface being installed. The roads will be closed to traffic during this time. Locally signed diversion routes will be put in place for traffic to travel around the closed sections.

Carriageway resurfacing will also be carried out on the B3078, Cranborne Road at the cross roads, during this time.

The work will be carried out between 9am and 3.30pm. Stop and Go boards will be used to control traffic, but motorists should be prepared to expect long delays on the B3078 during the resurfacing.

Cllr Steve Butler, local county council member said: “It is a difficult junction and these improvements are designed to alert traffic on the B3078 to vehicles leaving the minor roads and help prevent collisions.”

The Horton Inn will be open as usual and will be accessible from the Gussage St Michael road throughout the work.
