Local fish and chip shop, Salt and Vinegar in Ferndown, has been crowned ‘Best Newcomer’ in the National Fish and Chip Shop Awards announced on 24 January, 2013. Opened in 2010, the shop was judged on everything, from the quality of the food to the standard of customer service.
Owner Karen Milner, who runs the shop with Nikki Tucker, said, “We are honoured to have received this award – these are the Oscars of the fish and chip world. It is fantastic news for all of us – and it feels really good to be acknowledged.
“The awards took place at the Lancaster hotel in London, with around 700 people in attendance – we knew we were in the top three, but to win has been brilliant. Upholding standards has been key to our success.”
As well as providing a great portion of cod and chips, ‘the people of Ferndown’s most popular choice,’ the shop also takes pride in its home-made tartare sauce and fishcakes.
