Two G4S security guards were robbed outside Santander Bank in Ashley Road, Poole at around 11.37pm yesterday, Thursday, 5 November 2015.
Three men approached the two guards and stole a black cassette carrying an undisclosed quantity of cash. It is believed one of the offenders was carrying a sledgehammer and another was carrying a crowbar.
One of the security guards sustained a minor graze to his neck and did not require hospital treatment.
The three offenders then left the scene in a white Ford Transit van, which was later recovered a short distance away within Alexandra Park.
One offender was wearing a cap with a white peak and a dark hoodie. The second was wearing a scarf over his head and around his neck and jeans. The third was wearing dark clothing with a white zip.
Detective Sergeant Karen Penn, of Bournemouth CID, said: “I am appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact me.
“I am particularly interested in hearing from anyone who may have witnessed a white Ford Transit van driving erratically either before or after the incident.
“All calls will be treated in strict confidence.”
Detectives are keeping an open mind as part of their investigations as to whether this incident is linked to another similar robbery on a G4S van that occurred outside Barclays Bank in Castlepoint, Bournemouth at 10.38am on Tuesday 3 November 2015.
