A man has been arrested following a serious injury road traffic collision between a car and two pedestrians in Bournemouth.
Officers were called at 9.03am today, 8 October 2015, to the incident along Charminster Avenue.
A woman and a child were in collision with a black Volkswagen Lupo. A red Audi A1 was also involved in the incident.
The local woman, aged in her 40s, was taken to Southampton General Hospital with serious leg injuries. A two-year-old boy was taken to Poole Hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries.
Police Sergeant Jon Wren, of Dorset Police’s Traffic Unit, said: “We are currently investigating exactly what happened and I am appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision or the manner of driving of either vehicle prior to the incident to contact me on 101.
“Specially-trained family liaison officers from the traffic unit are supporting family members of the woman and child at this difficult time.”
A 27-year-old man from Bournemouth was arrested on suspicion of a driving offence and is assisting officers with their enquiries.
