Police investigating a serious injury collision near Verwood are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information to come forward.
At around 6.05pm on Sunday 3 January, a serious injury road traffic collision occurred on Edmondsham Road.
A red Ford Fiesta travelling away from Verwood left the road and collided with a tree.
A 15-year-old local girl, who was travelling in the front passenger seat, was trapped inside the car and had to be cut free by Dorset Fire and Rescue Service. She was taken by ambulance to Southampton General Hospital with serious injuries.
Her condition is described as life-threatening. Her family have been informed and are being supported by specially-trained officers.
The driver of the Fiesta, an 18-year-old local man, sustained minor injuries.
The road was closed for several hours to allow collision investigators to examine the scene.
Police Constable Kevin Adlem, of Dorset Police’s Traffic Unit, said: “I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision, or who saw the Fiesta being driven immediately before the incident, to please call me on 101.”
