In response to community concerns, regarding criminal and drug-related activity, Dorset Police carried out a day of action in the Townsend area of Bournemouth on 14 May. Four warrants were executed at home addresses during the course of the day. Seven people were arrested for drugs offences and a quantity of drugs and cash were seized. Officers provided a high visibility presence throughout the day to deter criminal activity and reassure residents.
Of the seven people arrested – three women and four men all from Bournemouth – six have been released on police bail while enquiries continue and one released with no further action.
North Bournemouth Neighbourhood Inspector Mike Claxton said: “We take the concerns of our communities very seriously. This day of action sends a strong message that we will take action against drugs offences and prevent, disrupt and detect such criminal behaviour.
“We will continue to work closely with members of the community to keep Townsend safe and proactively deal with information relating to drugs offences and other criminal or anti-social behaviour.
