Dorset Archives Trust, the charity which supports and promotes the archival heritage of Dorset, Bournemouth and Poole will be holding its annual ‘archives discovery day’ on Saturday 10 May at Dorset History Centre.
This year the focus is on the rich heritage of Sherborne with speakers covering subjects such as Sherborne School, the castle and the almshouse.
The common theme will be the importance of archives – documents, images, maps and plans in evidencing and interpreting our past.
The County Archivist will also give an update on activities at Dorset History Centre over the previous year.
Original documents relating to Sherborne will be on display over lunchtime.
Doors open at 9.45 and the event will close at 3.15.
Tickets are £8 and a buffet lunch can be booked in advance at an additional cost of £6.
All proceeds will go towards preserving Dorset’s past and making it available to everyone.
