Sherborne Travel Writing Festival returns
The annual Sherborne Travel Writing Festival is back for its fourth year and features a dozen writers, journalists and publishers.
Aspiring travel writers and fans of the genre should head to Sherborne this April as the town’s annual Travel Writing Festival will take place once again.
Held at the Powell Theatre from 10–12 April, the event will see a variety of writers, journalists and publishers share stories of their travels around the planet.
The festival has been curated by Rory MacLean, author of a dozen travel books and a local resident.
Announced speakers include: renowned travel writer and biographer Sara Wheeler; Adam Weymouth, winner of the Sunday Times Young Writer of the Year Award; and Tony Wheeler, co-founder of the Lonely Planet guidebook series.
This year will also see the first £10,000 Sherborne Prize for Travel Writing. The prize will be awarded to the winner on the last day of the festival, and there are over 70 shortlisted entries.
Tickets to the full festival, with entry to all 12 talks, including free parking all weekend, cost £120 for Sherborne Literary Society members and £150 for non-members. Individual session tickets cost from £12 for members and from £15 for non-members.
