The Dolphin Shopping Centre’s Shoppers 1 car park, which has been closed since June while works are carried out, will reopen today (Monday 19 October).
During the works, extensive repairs and improvements costing £1.4 million, were carried out. This involved waterproofing and resurfacing the main deck areas and replacing the two main movement joints in the car park. A new LED lighting system has been installed to provide more lighting across the car park while at the same time reducing energy consumption. Work has also taken place to repair and refurbish the stairwells and parapets throughout the car park.
Cllr Ian Potter, Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Transportation, Borough of Poole, said: “I’m pleased that we have been able to complete these extensive works to one of our main town centre car parks. The environment within the car park will be more enjoyable for customers using the shopping centre and to reopen in time for half term and the busy shopping period leading up to Christmas is great.”
