Year 10 Student Libbie Sinclair beat 23 fellow Enterprise and Business Study students at Bournemouth’s Bishop of Winchester Academy in a ‘Dragons’ Den’ style contest to produce a viable business idea.
The competition, organised by the Academy’s Head of Business Studies Caroline Kurtulan and the Enterprise and Skill Company, recruited local businessmen Danny Godfrey, Peter Matthews and Dr John Knowles as the dragons who gave up their time to sit through the presentations. Libbie’s idea for a shower head that automatically dispenses shampoo and conditioner most impressed the dragons.
“It’s a very simple but ingenious idea that may well have commercial value if developed and marketed by an appropriate company,” said Peter Matthews. “My fellow dragons were very impressed by the high standard of presentations and hope that the experience will enhance their confidence in their future careers.”
All the students received a certificate and winner Libbie was awarded a prize of £25 by Charlotte Jewell, Programme Manager at the Enterprise and Skills Company.
