The spectacular Solent Dog Display Team will be appearing at the Friends of the Strays of Greece annual family fun dog show this year. As well as the Solent dogs, there will be 20 classes to enter including Best 6 Legs, Best Rescue, Best Trick, Fastest Dog and Fancy Dress combining dog and handler, Best Veteran, Best Puppy and Best in Show.
Lyn Purden, who runs Ashley Heath-based Strays of Greece, says, “Fund-raising is getting harder with the financial climate so difficult – and conditions for animals are getting even worse in Greece. I get many more phone calls and emails from distressed tourists who witness starving or injured dogs and cats on the streets, and want to know where to take them. We help where we can.
“Our Dog Show is one of our major annual fund-raisers. It’s a fun day out for dogs and families – last year we had around 300 dog entries. Many of our Greek rescue dogs will be on parade. “
The Fun Dog Show will be filled with activities and stalls, refreshments (including home-made cakes and burgers), a grand tombola and a variety of other competitions for children to join in. Everyone is welcome – Entrance is only £1.50, children free.
Details of the Day and the Classes to be judged can be found on the Charity’s website www.straysofgreece.org or by phoning 01425 478757.
The dog show is on Sunday, 28 April at Burt’s Lane, Mannington (off Horton Road) near Wimborne BH21 7JT. Gates open for registration at 10.30am.
