Local, family run bakery, Reeve the Baker, whose 11 shops include Ringwood, has won a national bakery industry award for its multi-seed sourdough loaves. The loaves, which were introduced to the bakery’s range earlier this year, were named Speciality Bread of the Year at the Baking Industry Awards.
Now in their 28th year, the awards are the most prestigious awards in the baking industry and are run by market-leading magazine British Baker. They reward the companies and individuals who are driving the UK baking industry forward.
Gary Reeve comments: “We are extremely passionate about sourdough bread and have worked hard to perfect our recipe over the years. Our new multi-seed sourdough has been very popular amongst our customers and now we’re delighted that it’s been recognised as one of the best products in bakeries nationwide by the leading awards in the UK baking industry.”
The winners of the 2015 awards were announced at a ceremony hosted by Claudia Winkleman at London’s Park Lane Hilton on Wednesday 9 September. Martyn Leek, editor of British Baker, said: “The Baking Industry Awards continue to go from strength-to-strength celebrating, as they do, the very best in British baking.”
Reeve’s multi-seed sourdough is sold as loaves and rolls, which are made using the bakery’s famous sourdough in a three day process. They contain sunflower, linseed and pumpkin seeds as well as oats, rye flour and wheat bran.
The multi-seed sourdough is available in Reeve the Baker’s 11 shops, which are all within 25 miles of the Wilton bakery, in Amesbury, Blandford, Devizes, Ringwood, Romsey, Salisbury (Butcher Row and Silver Street), Shaftesbury, Warminster, Wilton and Winchester.
