This year ICE South West will be introducing a new category ‘Designed in the South West’, which reflects the fact that civil engineers in the region are working tirelessly on projects that are not necessarily local or even British, but are just as important to them.
“Our Civil Engineering Awards will recognise projects completed in 2016, which promote the excellence of the engineering profession,” said Miranda Housden, ICE South West Regional Director.
“The South West is full of innovative and inspiring projects and engineers, from a wide range of sectors and we hope to celebrate this wide variety of achievements.”
There are five main categories:
Projects over £1m
Projects less that £1m
Community Award, which highlights the significant achievement of involving the local area and media.
Designed in the South West for projects outside of the region with significant input from regional organisations.
People’s Choice, giving members of the public the opportunity to vote for their favourite local projects.
This year’s judging panel will include Richard Fish (Independent Consultant), Chris Burton (Tony Gee & Partners), Liz Waugh (Coast Communications), Trish Johnson (Clifton Suspension Bridge) & Nick Millington (Network Rail).
