A popular vintage music and dance festival that takes place in Southbourne, Bournemouth is returning on Friday 1 July until Sunday 3rd July.
Celebrating all things vintage, the award-winning Shake and Stir Vintage Festival has put Southbourne on the map. It is said to be the only event of its kind on the South Coast.
Taking place along Fishermans Walk, Southbourne Grove and Green and other venues, festival goers will be able to enjoy a weekend filled with family entertainment, vintage dancing and live music. There will also be a display of classic cars and bike as well as food and drink stalls provided by local businesses.
On Friday and Saturday, expect music from the Bournemouth University Big Band, the 30s and 40s classic female soloist Memphis Belle, The Red Fez Orchestra, The Land Girls 1940s’ style duo singers and the Rip It Up rock ‘n roll band.
Encouraging everyone to jump, jive and swing, there will also be vintage dance classes and performances from the Highcliffe Charity Players and The Glad Rag Production Company. On Sunday visitors will be treated to music from a 50s’ rock n roll inspired band The Junco Shakers, Retro Rita a Swing, Jazz and Rock ‘n’ Roll performer and the Rockin The joint trio of professional musicians.
Mandy Payne Co-event Organiser said, “This year Shake and Stir promises to be the best Vintage Festival to date. We have so many delightful acts ready to inspire crowds with music from the 30s, 40s and 50s, alongside some fantastic family entertainment. Attracting people from across the local area and beyond, this is an excellent opportunity to promote Southbourne’s busy and vibrant town centre.”
This year the award-winning event is being presented by Coastal BID, the Southbourne-on-sea Business Association and the Brewhouse and Kitchen, Microbrewery & Pub.
