Star Jumps for STARS
STARS Dorset is celebrating its one year anniversary of its new name (previously Dorset Rape Crisis Support Centre) and the charity is asking everyone across Dorset to help fundraise and do as many star jumps as they can in one minute or, if you're wanting to take on the extra challenge, five minutes, on Friday 22 May to celebrate.
Why not get a group of friends together virtually? Or get the whole family to do this at home, or maybe get your neighbours involved and get your street to do star jumps. Perhaps you could get your class to do it online or if you’re a Dorset business, why not start or end Friday with an active challenge to get your team motivated all in the name of STARS Dorset?
See who can do the most, or do as a chain so one person does their set then the next person and so on. All the charity asks is that each person who takes part donates £3 and if you can ask friends, family or colleagues to sponsor you that would be great. Could you be the next world record holder and beat the current Guinness World Record of 77 star jumps in a minute?
You can donate in the following ways:
Text Donation – if you’re wanting to donate to STARS via your phone please text ‘STARSDORSET’ to 70085 to donate £3. This costs £3 plus a standard rate message.
Facebook Donation – if you’re wanting to donate through Facebook click here to go to STARS’ Facebook page and click on the ‘Donate’ button or set up a Facebook fundraiser click here
Instagram Donation– if you’re wanting to donate through Instagram head to instagram page here
Via the Website – if you want to donate via the website click here and follow the instructions.
Last year STARS Dorset supported over 1500 people across Dorset, the youngest of those supported was four years old, the eldest in their eighties.
Helen Stevens, service manager for STARS Dorset said, “STARS Dorset is a year old this month and we wanted to create a challenge that everyone across the county could take part in either virtually or with those they are currently isolating with. The charity has supported over 1,500 people in the county in the past year and we hope ‘Star Jumping for STARS’ will help raise vital funds for the charity so we can continue to support those who need it.
