Stars from the BIC Panto Snow White pushed the plunger to switch on the festive lights at Bournemouth’s Castlepoint Shopping Park. Crowds cheered as EastEnders Matt Lapinskas and Gillian Wright, and C5 Milkshake presenter Olivia Birchenough and Noel Brodie were joined by Castlepoint General Manager Peter Matthews to perform the ceremony. Santa and his real reindeer were there to thrill the children and the Centrepoint Elim Church choir sang favourite carols whilst festive characters walked amongst the crowd.
“Our new lighting will brighten everyone’s Christmas. Children will be delighted to see that our illuminated reindeer will be with her baby this year and the fairy lighting on our trees within the landscaping and the malls will be a fantastic feature,” said Peter Matthews. The 45 retailers and other outlets will also start late night opening until 9pm from 1 December.
On Saturdays 5 and 12 December there will be more free festive entertainment with Christmas characters including the Snow Cats, life-size Christmas puddings, Percy Penguin, Monty Polar Bear and a chance to enjoy some complimentary roasted chestnuts.
“With the longer opening hours of our retailers and caterers, our free parking and the safe, secure environment we offer, we hope to be the convenient on stop place to shop for more people this year:” said Peter Matthews.
