BBC News has reported that fire crews in Dorset have rescued 25 people trapped in their cars by flood water after strong winds and torrential rain overnight.
Firefighters helped people in Sturminster Newton, Blandford, Shaftesbury, Sherborne and Wimborne.
The fire service said it had received 240 emergency calls since 18:00 GMT on Monday, all weather related.
The River Stour burst its banks in Sturminster Newton, Wimborne and Ferndown.
Travel disruption also continued with South West Trains suspending services until 10:00 GMT because of the adverse weather conditions.
