Two goals from second half substitute Mark Gamble could not prevent Wimborne Town going down 4-3 at Cirencester Town last Saturday. It was the first reversal for the Magpies in the Calor League Division One South & West in five games.
Wimborne have been in free-scoring in recent weeks and despite being the club’s top scorer, Gamble was confined to the bench after a two-game absence.
Twice the Magpies fought back from two-goals down, but the three points were finally lost as Cirencester grabbed an 85th minute winner.
Wimborne, Dorset Senior Cup finalists for the past two seasons, start their campaign in the competition on Wednesday (30 Octtober) night when they face Dorset Premier League Wareham Rangers at Cuthbury, kick off 7.45pm.
Wareham were first out of the hat, but agreed to switch to a midweek date and play under the Cuthbury floodlights.
This coming Saturday (2 November) Wimborne are in Calor League action when they travel to Surrey to face Godalming Town, kick off 3pm.
