Students from The Bournemouth & Poole College served up a treat for guests during the pop-up “Saturday Night Kitchen” at the Christchurch Food Festival last weekend. The restaurant was jointly hosted by celebrity chefs Lesley Walters of ITV’s This Morning, and Dean Edwards of ITV’s Lorraine.
The College trainees were given the opportunity to prepare a three-course meal, which consisted of dishes such as Crab and Asparagus Tart and Chicken and Artichoke Empanada.
Those who took part in the event are currently studying on the Royal Academy of Culinary Arts’ Specialised Chef Scholarship. They were also helped on the night by some of The College’s Diploma in Professional Catering students.
The Bournemouth & Poole College offers an array of Hospitality and Catering courses focusing on professional cookery, food and beverage service, events and customer care. The Specialised Chef Scholarship is also a popular choice among applicants who wish to train in all aspects of professional cookery to the highest level. Upon graduation, apprentices are then fully qualified to continue working in prestigious hotels and restaurants across the globe.
Christophe Baffos, Head of Curriculum of Hospitality and Tourism, said, ‘‘Our students had a wonderful experience – and I’m very proud of their professionalism and the excellent service they provided throughout. It’s a great opportunity for us to showcase the quality of the training we offer and to spread the word to young people looking for a future career how exciting and thriving this industry is.”
This was the best experience of my time..it was amazing!!! I would love to do the serving again!
