Rallye Sunseeker 2012 and 2013, Poole, took silver in the Tourism Event of the Year category at the recent Dorset Tourism Awards.
Held in the Tank Museum, Bovington, the evening saw 39 awards presented to winners from across the county. Chair of the judging panel, Professor Peter Jones said: “I was delighted to act as chair for the Dorset Tourism Awards and very impressed with the quality of the submissions. We have excellent tourism businesses in Dorset and to be involved in recognising them in this way has been a privilege and a pleasure.”
For Rally Director Rick Smith, the award was an acknowledgement of the high profile that Rallye Sunseeker brings to the Dorset and South Coast area and he said, “To attain silver, in the company of such prominent nominees is a superb reflection on what financial & PR benefits Rallye Sunseeker brings to the Dorset area. It is an honour to be nominated, and even more pleasing to be recognised for all the hard work our team has put into the event, and bodes very well for next year, following the high praise and positive feedback we have received this year.”
The gold award went to Dorset Seafood Festival, Weymouth and bronze was also won by a Poole event, the British Beach Polo Championships. Sherborne Abbey Festival was commended.
